Students thinking about further study after they leave school have a lot of choices to make.
Sussed Online is a great way to get thinking about what it will cost to live and study. Will it be broadband and baked beans, or dial up and dining out? Part-time job or parents helping? Hear from students about their experiences and the choices that need to be made. You’ll also find out more about StudyLink and what they do along the way.
We encourage students and parents to check it out at www.studylink.govt.nz.
2016 Youth Parliament
The next Youth Parliament will be held on 19 and 20 July 2016. Applications are now being sought from young people interested in taking part as Youth MPs and members of the Youth Press Gallery.
Travel and accommodation costs are funded.
Be a Youth MP
Youth Parliament replicates the real Parliament as closely as possible with Youth MPs debating a mock Bill, sitting on Select Committees and asking Ministers oral questions.
Be a member of the Youth Press Gallery
A Youth Press Gallery member is someone who is passionate about journalism and is confident engaging with a wide range of people. Members of the Youth Press Gallery will receive training prior to the event.
See www.youthparliament.govt.nz for more information details about the 2016 Youth Parliament and the application process for Youth MPs and the Youth Press Gallery.
If anyone would like to go to the Defence Careers Expo 13th or 14th September, with student vocation workshops, please see Mrs Bailey asap to enrol.
I hope your year is going well! I thought I would get in touch to let you know of a few things that are happening at CTC Aviation in Hamilton, NZ.
Open Day 12 September: We would encourage anyone who is considering a career as a commercial pilot to register and come along to this event to find out more about what programmes we offer, have a look at our training centre and accommodation facilities, talk to our instructors and trainees and hear from our guests from the airlines.
We welcome potential trainees and their families to come along and check us out. The registration page can be found on our website http://www.ctcaviation.com/events/airline-pilot-careers-day-nz/
NZ Diploma in Aviation: We are still recruiting for this programme and next year’s courses are filling up fast so if you have students who are considering applying for this programme for next year’s intakes then make sure they get their applications in!
School leavers: We would recommend that those who are in their final year of school who are interested in a career as a professional pilot get started on their application. We can accept an application once the student turns 17 and we can start putting them through the application and selection process which means they are able to pass pending their results at the end of the year. This way students are more motivated and have something to work towards during their final year of school and over the summer break.
If you require any more brochures or information from us please don’t hesitate to get in contact with me or pass my details on to the interested students.
