Education, Sport, GAP year and Volunteering
GAP YEAR AND VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Believing that our youth today need more opportunities , be it either in sport or education, we are now very proud to announce our partnership with “Duin in die weg” and their New Kalahari GAP year programme as from 2020.
Duin in die Weg now offers a great Gap Year for school leavers (men and ladies). Their program is a full-time Gap Year, presented in four quarterly modules. Combining Adventure & Sports; Farming & Agriculture; Nature Conservation and Personal Development in ONE practical program, makes the program unique. It enables students to learn valuable and practical life skills in general, and also for the professional world. Students who are not able or interested in the full programme, can opt for the volunteer / internship option (any number of the specific quarterly modules). The admission requirement is grade 12 (18 years). Students who successfully complete the program, will receive a formal Certificate.

Camp Counselors USA offer unique programs designed to teach leadership, professional development and work-related skills. In today’s society, communication, collaboration and creativity are critical for success in the work force. Many New Zealander’s believe a GAP year experience between high school and tertiary studies – or after graduating university – before entering the work force is effective in gaining these important skills. Working or volunteering overseas is also useful in guiding students in personal growth and deciding on a study or career path.
Creating career path experiences is something CCUSA specialises in. The link above takes you to the new International Work & Volunteer Program brochure to assist you. Each program is outlined for you to review, along with the outcome of each program, explaining what skill you will obtain from your experience. All the programs provide a stable platform for New Zealander’s to successfully transition from high school/university in to the workforce – and ensures you use your GAP year constructively.
This experience is one of the most popular programs for New Zealander’s as well as the US Department of State – CCUSA is a designated US Department of State official J-1 Visa Sponsors.
There is a Free Camp USA online information meeting that students can log into Wed June 5th 2019 at 6:30PM. Below is the links to register for the online meeting: http://www.anymeeting.com/PIID=ED59DB8285493C and Log in on the night: https://www.anymeeting.com/706-225-701

It’s hard to believe it’s term 4 already! We just wanted to remind students about GKG. For those who aren’t sure what next year holds, perhaps a gap year, or volunteer experience, anything from two to 24 weeks, might be the answer.
GKG has life changing opportunities and we also offer a Global Competence Certificate (GCC) as part of the experience, which not only develops an understanding of other cultures, but is great for a CV.
Our volunteer experiences are so much more than a holiday, people really get to immerse and experience another culture, while helping a local community. The experiences we provide ensure you’re in a safe environment with like-minded people, ready to be part of a positive local project in one of our diverse locations.
Rose spent time in Nepal and says, “Nepal now holds a large part of my heart and I’m counting down the months until I can re-visit and see all the children and my friends again!”
Not everyone is sure what to do at the end of Year 13, GKG gives young people another option. If you need to know more, please email jordana.zhu@afs.org or click on the website link below.
And….it’s not just for students, GKG is for anyone over 18!
